Simon's father, Pierre, is a police officer and his mother, Nicole is an administrator. He has a younger brother, Jean-Francois.

Simon was so skinny when he was younger that he was cut from his Bantam team. But luckily for him, the coach took him back two weeks later because of a goal scorer shortage and Simon actually led that team in goals and points that year. A similar thing happened the next year but the coach took two months to take him back. Even the Flyers were a little nervous about signing him because of his size, but his skills obviously shone through his size because he is still with the Flyers!

Simon says that if he was not a hockey player, he would be a Phys. Ed. teacher.

His first job was a furniture mover.

Fave non-hockey team is the Montreal Expos.
